The Golden Boot or Golden Shoe Award is granted to the top goalscorer of the FIFA World Cup. The first time an award was given was in 1982, under the name Golden Shoe. In this World Cup, both runners-up had the same number of assists, and each received the Silver Shoe.

Eight players had scored three goals. Ronaldo, Crespo and Zinedine Zidane had also one assist. The two recipients were determined by less playtime (308 minutes for Crespo, 411 for Ronaldo, 559 for Zidane).

Nine coaches from the Czechoslovakia participated until the 1990 World Cup. Five coaches were from Czech Republic and 4 from Slovakia. For the statistical purpose, we will consider five from Czech Republic and four from Slovakia since the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

For eleven years, Yugoslavia was known as the FR Yugoslavia National Football Team. Then, The republics of Serbia and Montenegro together established a federation in 1992 as the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The name of the country was changed again to Serbia and Montenegro in February 2003
